This morning I left early for the Council of State, located at Kneuterdijk 22 in The Hague, to attend the appeal of Maurice Vissers. Judging from the messages on the social media channels, I already saw that there is a lot of enthusiasm to be present, but I couldn’t imagine it. I also saw that many people were absent. Logical, on the one hand because it is a weekday, and of course a lot of people have to work, and on the other hand perhaps because of the fear of reprisals if people show up here. The latter wouldn’t surprise me in any case… #istandbesidesmaurice

Harley Davidson

When I arrived I was already not the first, and the first Harley Davidsons were already neatly lined up, and in front of these motorcycles there were already a number of men, equipped with the vests, the so-called ‘colours’, that belonged to the affiliated motorcycle club. Black Sheep MC, Demons MC, the Red Devils MC, Rocknrollas MC, Aureum MC, Old Bouncers MC, Wildcocks MC and the Veterans MC walked past each other and shook hands. You could just taste a real brotherhood. Brotherhood because of the love of motorcycles, and probably even more because of the friendship they have in common with Maurice Vissers.

That Maurice has many friends with the well-known Harley Davidsons, that became clearer by the minute: one twinkling motorcycle after another – with the typical Harley sound – made an act de presence, and they were neatly parked next to each other in a row. One even more beautiful than the other, and the riders are all equally friendly to each other. If these really are all outlaws, then I would have a very different feeling about it. No, these are all friendly guys, so I don’t understand the whole dilemma about those biker clubs from this perspective. That whole OMG certification also seems hugely over the top from this point of view. I feel more at home here than with a class of office cocks. Some emissaries of the haaglanden police quickly came to ask quite nervously who the coordinator of this colorful group was, because the motorcycles that were already there had quickly filled a whole sidewalk. The request was soon granted, and the motorcycles were moved. Without any problem or whatsoever.

Michael Ruperti

Michael Ruperti is Maurice Vissers’ lawyer. Also a veteran, and military lawyer. What a warrior this man. Don’t be put off by anyone, that’s as far as clear. Where he forwards with clear facts arrives, he clearly shows that everything has been prepared down to the last detail. How different was the lawyer who acted on behalf of the Ministry of Defense. This state lawyer (I will also write about this in a separate column, will be continued…) was a lot less well organized. She had to search for articles, couldn’t find important documents, and so on.

I still think that one of the strongest points was, that the person Maurice was highlighted. A good guy, who has always done his job in the supreme sense to keep someone else safe. Just a good dude, never has received a blot on his coat of arms in his judgments From his commander. Yes, he once spoke a word with a Hells Angel. So what. The state lawyer also shot by associating him with the Vatos, a criminal motorcycle club from the US, because he was once in the photo, while he did not even know that club at the time. The entire defense is based on assumptions.

Counsel in this case consisted of three judges. Two gentlemen and a lady. I didn’t get the idea that they were already partial. In fact, they even seemed to fall on Maurice’s side at times. One of the gentlemen judges made a comment about the veterans MC. “Veterans, aren’t they Veterans? Veterans risking their own lives and safety to ensure the safety of others? How could this be an OMG (Outlaw Motorcycle Gang)?” Thunderous applause rang out from everyone in the room. Goosebumps.

At the end of the session, Maurice also had some speaking time. All the tensions left their mark, and you could notice that in Maurice. Or as he himself puts it: “that he got really fed up on the other party with their nonsensical crap”. After another sharp remark to the opposing party, the case was closed. The verdict could take at least another six weeks. If Lady Justice sees no truth here, at least that explains the blindfold. Let’s hope for justice for Maurice. Hasta la Victoria siempre!
